Hello all,
Today’s newsletter is sponsored by finding time between sleepiness from working against my circadian rhythm and the need to not have a full month between updates.
**TW: sexual assault mention at the double astricks**

Poetry of the Week
This came out of me, not sure how, but I’m proud of it. Alludes to sexual assault.

I wrote this when I started working on my Medusa cross stitch. **Part of Medusa’s story is that she was raped on the alter to Athena. Many interpretations say that Athena cursed Medusa for being violated,** but more recent feminist readings argue that Athena gave Medusa a power to defend herself with.

Things I’ve learned, laughed about, and/or obsessed over

Book Búho
What I’ve been reading/listening to bc audiobooks let me do both
- Payback’s A Witch by Lana Harper – a little millennial-y, which can be cringy, but mostly about bisexual witches with the added bonus that they don’t have to deal with homophobia 🙂
- Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood by Danny Trejo, read by him – I love Danny Trejo, I love his voice, and sometimes he laughs at the stories he tells in his book. I want to meet him and hug him.
- Loose Woman by Sandra Cisneros – my favorite author since 6th grade, I’m revisiting her poems and remembering myself a bit.

Personal Chisme
chisme = gossip
- finished Medusa!! as seen above
- have had an outpouring of poetry from myself recently, feels good.
- Usually sleepy
- I left World Market to work full-time-ish at Sweetgreen! My feet hurt.

Thank you for reading! If you would like to snake a peek at my other writing, you can find it at Colochos de Flores.
Abrazos and/or high fives,
Ariana
