Translation: Owls and Blues
Hello all,
Today’s newsletter is sponsored by trying to get better. Hope you’re all making it through ❤

1st Piece
A year ago, I signed up for a writing website for the first time to be able to submit a piece to a challenge. Previously, I’ve shared my writing in friends’ zine, college magazines, and on social media. I’ve even made a personal zine before that I gave to six people to edit. This time, I didn’t ask anyone to look first (no beta we die like women). And I sent it to people so I could try and be proud of it. The Gays tended to like it.
2nd Piece
Now, I wrote this new piece, for the return of the challenge. My writing has gotten better, and I’ve tried to tell truer stories. The one above is sweeter, but this one is more reflective of my mental state right now, while also trying to imagine living in a house in the middle of the Arizona desert. A little gory at the end but in a “nature is badass” way? Current mental state: burnt out, much more than I thought I was.

Rabbitholes
Things I’ve learned, laughed about, and/or obsessed over
- In all of my obsession with minimalism for the past month, I’ve learned that decluttering is how I practice listening to myself.
- Ironically, I’m obsessed with this jacket from The Endgame trailer and I want to look fucking powerful in it.

Personal Chisme
chisme = gossip
- Tired in all senses. Please send good vibes.
- I MADE STICKERS, INCLUDING “UNIONIZE ELDEST DAUGHTERS”
- AND a logo!

Short and bittersweet today, very grateful to you for reading this far! If you want to read past bitters and sweets, please check out Colochos de Flores.
Abrazos and/or high fives,
Ariana
