Translation: Body Care
Hello all,
Today’s newsletter is sponsored by a day of just doing what your body asks of you. I hope you’ve had the chance to do that and had a good week!

Prose and Poetry of the Week
In honor of my body, I present to you this piece that got me featured on Vocal’s Top Stories page. I was so proud that I sent it to anyone that I thought would care, and I even had some share it with more people! I’m glad it resonated with so many because it’s about not constraining your body. I’ve gained weight since college and more in the pandemic, and I’m trying to get used to it, and as I get used to it, I like it. And jeans can fuck off. It also made my personal “Unionize Eldest Daughters” slogan public. I’m thinking of making stickers. Want one?

Another poem dedicated to a deity. As a follower of La Virgen De Guadalupe, I have dug into Her history, and found Aztec/Mexica creator and destroyer goddess Coatlicue and mother goddess Tonantzin behind La Virgen, since La Virgen is arguably a colonization project that many people have reclaimed. Although, I am having a hard time figuring out if they are always one and the same. Tonantzin is the title of “mother,” and Coatlicue is a name that means “serpent skirt,” and they seem to be used interchangeably in my research.

Rabbitholes
