Calm The Fuck Down

TW: brief mention of suicide

Anxiety has been a bit worse than usual this week, which makes me want to change things up. This poem was written when I was feeling particularly trapped, even before the pandemic in February 2020. It was cathartic and goes in so many directions.

Headbangers for Headaches

For y’all who have had experience with The Peter Pan bus on Wellesley College’s campus, you might relate wayyy too much to this piece and I’m sorry for bringing up flashbacks. I wrote this for Vocal’s Zen Playlist Challenge because I do listen to all kinds of rock music to help my headaches, which were STUPID prevalent while riding the bus.

Things I’ve learned, laughed about, and/or obsessed over

• The scene from The Mysterious Benedict Society Disney show where Number Two is doing something mundane and useless, but she defends doing so by saying “it keeps me sane, which makes me unstoppable,” and I do a lot of things for the same reason, including this newsletter.
• The Recovering Gleek: A Glee Podcast, it’s so stupid and the hosts’ friendship makes me giggle.
• “Not sure how it works on cough yet because after one taste, my body decided it would rather never cough again than to have to taste this again.” – a snippet from Buckley’s Review that is titled “Ever Drink Drain Cleaner?”
• Take Up Space

• Whichever way you contact me, especially in texting, please give me 48+ hours to respond because I’m getting worse at responding as time goes on. If I just forget, please forgive me. My mind is deteriorating.
