Hello all,
For some of you, I asked if you wanted to be here. For the rest of you, we’ve already been friends for long enough and/or you have expressed interest in following my writing that I thought you’d enjoy. You all can, of course, ask to be taken off whenever!
I’m making this newsletter, Xismosa Xit, because of a few inspirations:
- My cousin asked if she could subscribe to my writing, and I never thought someone would ask
- Brain Pickings, where Maria Popova created her own blog (which she was able to turn into a couple of books so far) that started as a weekly email to seven friends. Plus, all authors who have made books out of essays and poems. My hope is that eventually all these little emails and pieces will snowball into something more.
- To catch up differently, since social media overwhelms me.
- I wanted to incorporate some “behind the scenes” about my pieces, because all of my pieces, even fiction ones, have truth in them.
You never have to respond to this; you never even have to read it. It’s just me shouting into the void, but at least I know this particular void (y’all) loves something about me already. Also, who knows how consistent this will be, hopefully weekly.

Piece of the Week

This one is a few months old, but was fun to write, and I had absolutely no reason to write it other than I evidently love him. It’s not that I’m bragging about being in the Top 1% of Hozier’s listeners on Spotify, but it did give me an earned confidence to write this piece.

Rabbitholes
Things I’ve learned, laughed about, and/or obsessed over
- Luca (I love the colors and friendships and gay fish)
- Anti-muli-level-marketing podcasts
- Deceptacon by Le Tigre
- A Witch’s Guide to Burning, an ongoing comic by Aminder Dhaliwal, especially this description of the Witch Doctor, because I want to be her.

Personal Chisme
chisme = gossip
- I re-read some old “never to send” love letters recently and they have a LOT of STRONG 18-year-old-Ariana emotions, and I will probably never send them, but I am debating publishing them online.

For now, I’ve focused my writing on Vocal Media, but plan to upload a version of these emails to my personal blog as an archive.
I hope you had fun reading, and maybe even let me know what you think!
Abrazos and/or high fives,
Ariana
